Spine-headed Bug (Acanthocephala femorata)

The species name of this bug comes from the enlarged hind legs of the male (shown above), which are employed in "combat" between rivals as they push and shove each other. The female has smaller femora, but they are still noticeably thicker than other species of Acanthocephala.
