The Dusky-blue Groundstreak looks a lot like the closely related hairstreaks. Its odd name may come from the fact that the caterpillars forage on the ground, eating dead leaves, fallen fruit, and other debris. There are several species of hairstreaks that are also gray with orange markings and, since they are rather small, it is hard to determine their identity from any distance. Even close up, the markings vary considerably. Although rarely seen except when the insect flies, the tops of the wings have blue patches.
