Although the Eastern Yellow-bellied Racer is an olive green color, it is sometimes called Blue Racer. Fairly common throughout much of Texas, this snake eats mainly insects, but will also dine on rodents, birds and eggs, frogs, lizards and even other snakes. Young snakes of this species have a pattern of brown spots, which fades into the adult dull green by their second year.
