Not as numerous as other dragonflies in the Garden, the Eastern pondhawk is, however, considered one of the most aggressive hunters, consuming a great number of other insects and even attacking each other. From a distance, it is difficult to identify because the pale blue of the body does not stand out distinctly. The females are green. Males in territorial disputes do not merely chase each other but also perform a repetitive circling flight.
