This peculiar little moth (pair shown mating) is named for the method by which its larvae feed. The caterpillars of the Boxwood Leaftier use silk to tie leaves together so they can eat in the safety of their little "tent." They also pupate between leaves. The angle of the above photo does not really show the unique shape of the moths' wings, which have a slight indentation on each side. While the main color of these 3/8 inch long moths is a dark metallic bronze, the indentation is gray.
