Sea gulls are not particularly common this far from the coast, but they do tend to move inland during the winter and the Ring-billed Gull is occasionally spotted. The large lakes in our area attract them, but they also like to forage in fields or around garbage dumps, where they eat everything from insects to carrion. During the summer, these gulls possess a completely white head, but it is streaked with gray during the winter.
