This vine is very well-behaved for a robust and hardy climber. It tends to grow mixed in with native shrubs and simply adds a bit of interest to the foliage without overwhelming the other plants. Also called pearl milkweed (for the small pearl-like dot in the middle of the stamen), the vine has large heart-shaped leaves and green flowers.

class: Magnoliopsida / order: Gentianales / family: Asclepiadaceae / genus: Matelea / species: reticulata
