American White Pelican (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos)

Only very rarely seen here in Austin, the American White Pelican passes through when migrating. With a wingspan of almost 10 feet, it is a truly magnificent soaring bird. Unlike brown pelicans, which dive into the water for their food, white pelicans scoop up fish while floating on the water.
