Pigeon-Berry (Rivina humilis)

Also called rouge plant, pigeon-berry is a delighful little perennial commonly found in rather moist shaded areas. The plants grow to about one foot in height, and the leaves have wavy edges. The white to pinkish flowers appear in the late spring to early summer, quickly followed by the stunning berries. Each flower has four sepals but no petals. The berries look almost like deep red glass, and were once used for making a red dye.
