The majority of dragonflies in the Austin area are active during the hot months, mostly from April to October. The yellow-legged meadowhawk, though, is seen in December, flying about the ponds on any sunny, warm day. The illustrated individual is a male, which does not really have yellow legs. The females are brown and their legs are a yellowish color.
