Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta)

The Red Admiral feeds on flowers, tree sap, and fruit. When its wings are closed, this species is almost invisible against the bark of trees. However, its bright upper orange and black patterns are easily seen when it flies or spreads its wings. The larvae feed on nettles.
